Jimmy Dunnachie has signed EDM413. Motion reads: "That this House commends the action of President Clinton in awarding Medals of Honour to seven United States soldiers who were previously denied the medals because they were black; sends particular congratulations to the only surviving recipient, Mr Vernon Baker, whose dignity and lack of bitterness contrasts so vividly with the racists and bigots who had denied him his country's highest award for bravery; pays tribute to all those Black and Asian servicemen and women from many countries who made such a conspicuous contribution to the victory of the Allies in 1945; and believes a fitting tribute to their service and sacrifice would be the total elimination of all discriminatory practices in the armed forces of both the United States of America and the United Kingdom."
